The Rose Mary Perez Foundation was created to continue Rose Mary's legacy of generosity and kindness in support of causes and endeavors that were special to her, such as
supporting and promoting strong, independent women.
The Rose Mary Perez Foundation is dedicated to supporting needs-based, first-generation, Spanish-speaking women who are pursuing careers in finance. Each year, the Foundation will award scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 to students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to giving back to their community.

The Peter J. Tobin College of Business (formally the College of Business Administration).
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Based Upon Financial Need
- Female / Identifies as Female
- Spanish Background
- 1st Generation in the US (preferred not required)
- GPA 3.3 (out of 4.0) or above (If applying as a 1st year/Freshman, provide your high school GPA)
- Currently enrolled or accepted to St. John’s University Tobin College of Business with Major in Finance preferred (Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Economics, or Finance Technology will also be considered)
- Able to provide a transcript (if applying as 1st year/Freshman, be able to provide high school academic transcript; if already enrolled at St. John's, be able to provide current academic college transcript)
DEADLINE FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR
- Applications Due by March 7th, 2025 at 6pm EST.
- Winner(s) will be notified the week of April 7th 2025.
HOW TO APPLY
- Complete the online form below.
- Submit a transcript, SAT/ACT scores, proof of acceptance or enrollment, letter of recommendation, and your photo as PDF attachments to the application submission below.
- Address each of the written essay questions in at least 500 words each, to a maximum of 1000 words, (single space) in essay format.
- Use a standard academic format: Times New Roman, 12-point font, single-spaced.
- Attach the completed essay responses in PDF format to the application submission below.
ESSAY GUIDELINES
- Essays will be judged based on originality, clarity of thought, and overall quality of writing.
- All applicants are required to submit original essay material. Submissions containing AI-generated material or plagiarized work will not be considered.
WRITTEN ESSAY QUESTIONS
- Question 1: Why should you be selected for a scholarship? Please describe any academic achievements, activities, leadership role or other personal characteristics that make you deserving of this scholarship.
- Question 2: Why did you major in finance and what are your future career plans?
- Question 3: In what ways has your background shaped who you are and influenced your educational and career aspirations?
- Question 4: Describe activities where you have given back to your Spanish heritage, community, social causes, or have had a positive impact on others. How do you envision continuing to do so going forward and how?
- Question 5: What is (or has) been the most challenging aspect of attending college for you? What have you done to overcome that challenge?
ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
Our scholarship review board will evaluate each application and announce the winner on this website the week of April 7th, 2025.
The winner will be required to complete a W-9 form, and the award will be sent to the address provided on that form. A photo release and associated headshot are also requested so that the winner’s accomplishments can be showcased on our website and social channels.
